Support - Categories - First Time User Articles

GroupSurveys gives you the power to create stunning style templates for your surveys. Our simple style template tools will allow you to make your surveys look like they are coming straight off your own website. You will need to have a knowledge of basic HTML and CSS to fully utilise this feature, but don't worry if you don't, because we will help you to create a template free of charge if you get stuck.
Creating A Custom Style Template
To get started, click on the 'Style Workshop' link on the left hand menu. From here you can create your new style template. Click on the 'New Style' button.
New Style Template
You will be asked for the following information, which we have explained below.
Style Details
Style Title: Here you can enter a descriptive title for your style, so that you will recognise it again.
HTML Template:

This is by far the most important part, what ever HTML you enter here, will be the template that the survey is built around. All you have to do, is paste the text '<#SURVEY#>' into your HTML, and then the survey will be built exactly where that text is placed.

Note: You cannot use any of the following HTML tags:

You should start your template with and end it with
. You can test your template once you have created it.

Remember: Any images you reference must have their full path, example:

CSS Style Sheet: You can include your own style sheet in the HTML template above, the styles in this style sheet control how the survey will look.
Survey Localisation: Here you will find some options for changing the text on your survey button etc.
Once you have created your style template, it will show up in the style workshop page. You can view, edit and delete it any time from here. Remember you should not delete any template that has been applied to a survey, as it will cause the survey to look strange.
Applying Your Template To An Existing Survey
Once you have created your template, it is easy to apply it to existing surveys:
1.) Go to My Surveys.
2.) Click on the 'overview' button beside the survey you want to change.
3.) Next click on the 'edit survey' link on the left hand menu.
4.) Under survey templates, choose 'advanced', and then choose you template in the 'custom template' box.
5.) Finally, click on the 'change' button at the bottom of the page.
Applying Your Template To A New Survey
To apply you template to a new survey, when you are on the 'New Survey' screen for creating surveys:
1.) Under survey templates, choose 'advanced'.
2.) Choose you template in the 'custom template' box.
Note: You should test out all of your templates thoroughly before applying them to live surveys. If you make a mistake in you HTML it may cause the survey to be displayed wrong.
