The Insurance Brokers Association of B.C.
The IBABC works on behalf of the public and professional insurance brokers in the province of British Columbia, Canada and are based in Vancouver. We talked to Greg Mansfield, Continuing Education Coordinator, about how GroupSurveys helped their business.
Why did you conduct a survey?

"Our continuing education department needed to poll our membership to determine whether or not there was sufficient interest in our making an online Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program available to them via our Online Learning Centre."

Who was the target audience?

“General insurance brokers in the province of British Columbia, Canada. ”

What was your delivery method?

“We used the excellent GroupMail software to e-mail the survey to approximately 3,000 of our members that we have e-mail addresses for.”

What incentive did you use to encourage your respondents to answer?

“None. We simply asked them to participate in the survey to help us out.”

Were you happy with the results? and did you think you collected much useful information?

“Yes, we were delighted with the results. The rate of response from those we delivered the survey to was approximately 19% (556 people) within 2 days, which exceeded our expectations. Previously, our faxed surveys only generated a 5% to 10% return and we had to wait 14 – 21 days for all the responses to come back to us. And, yes, the information we collected was most useful. We were able to determine that the project in question should go forward based on the level of interest indicated by those surveyed.“

Would you use a survey again to help you resolve similar problems?

“Yes, we will definitely be using GroupSurveys again!”
